Return of the Theatre of Blood
I'm pleased to present the details of our SEASON 2, which kicks off on APRIL 30th! Yes, my Samhain celebration assumes a different form this time round. Do note who wrote the second play: those who know me may also note the irony.
THE TELL-TALE HEART
by Steven Hopley, from the tale by Edgar Allan Poe
Directed by Maisie Dubosarsky
The mad thrall of murder. The sweet thrill of survival. The daunting fear of discovery. And a heart that won't stop beating...
CHOCOLATE CURSES
by Kyla Ward
Directed by Steven Hopley
'Sweet Temptations' is an up-market chocolate shop with some unusual items on the menu: some of which may be hazardous to your health!
THE TORTURE GARDEN
by Pierre Chaine & André de Lorde
Directed by Irving Gregory
It's 1922, and two Westerners living an exotic existence in the Far East engage in a dangerous love affair, which sees them become embroiled in international espionage - and a rendezvous with fate at the Torture Garden...
The Torture Garden is one of the all time classics of the Grand Guignol. It is not politically correct in any way whatsoever. But if this season's program has a theme, it's to do with the equality of suffering. Neither age, youth or beauty are spared...
In case you've forgotten, The Theatre of Blood runs on Friday Nights from 11pm at the Newtown Theatre, cnr King and Bray Streets, Newtown. Tickets are $19 / $15 concession. Dress to a horror theme and receive the concession price!
