Ditmar Nominations - Some Oddities

Today, after some frantic catch-up reading, I sent off my Ditmar nominations. I am not going to list them all here, but I thought I would point out a few of the more obscure things I found that I, certainly, think deserving.

Novel
Dead Europe, Christos Tsiolkas, Random House.
This came out in October and is absolutely brilliant. I am vaguely concerned that people don't seem to know it is horror, Tsiolkas being generally categorised as a literary writer. I make my case here: http://www.tabula-rasa.info/AusHorror/DeadEurope.html

Fanzine
Where the Sea's Asleep, ed. Kate Orman, Dr Who fanzine released January 2005 as a fundraiser for Tsunami relief. A really nice little production, notable for being one of the last fanzines to speculate on what-will-the-new-Who-be-like, and also for being 11x29.5cm

The William Atheling Jr. Award
Robert Hood, 'Divided Kingdom: King Kong vs. Godzilla' in King Kong is Back, Benbella Books.
What can I say?

i kinda doubt it's a 'fan' production, but eh, *shrug*, i'm not bothered. personally, i'd just skip voting for anything i did last year. it'll be easier on me :)
